HAWAII
DRIVER EDUCATION

Hawaii requires all drivers under the age of 18 to take a local driver education course either through the public school system, if offered, or through an available commercial driving school.  (At this time there is NO provision for a parent taught course.)

Driver Ed in a Box® gives you the tools to work with your teen during the Permit stage.  Hawaii requires you spend a minimum of 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.  Our course guides you through the skills your teen driver needs to become a safe, collision-free driver.

The Driver Ed in a Box® program gives you the tools to master the skills of each section of driving (we break it down to Parking Lot, Neighborhood, Two Lane and Four Lane Light Traffic, Freeway, Rural and Heavy Traffic). With our checklist and audio CDs, it allows the student to master the skills required in each area at their own pace before moving on to the next section.

At age 16, the student must present a Driver Education Student Completion Certificate and a Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) Student Completion Certificate to the Examiner of Drivers prior to scheduling a road test.  Once you are at least 16 years of age, you can go to the local driver license examiner and take your road test.

Parents using Driver Ed in a Box® to work directly with their teen and supervise their progress ensures the safest teen drivers on the road.

Parent/student comments:

"I learned everything I needed to prepare me for the road." - Ronnie Andrews, Student

"Thank to this course, I now feel comfortable in traffic. Several family members have stated how thorough this course is. My mother and father were never taught such terms as S.M.O.G. and Sniper. They actually learned how to be better drivers, too! Overall, I have learned more than many of my friends." - Brian Powers, Student

"Excellent. It was very helpful and clearly understandable. I feel more confident about Andrew's driving than my previous son who has gone through a local driver's ed. course." - Sharon Austin, Parent
